An incredibly starry line-up of chefs is turning out at the end of the month for a charity do to raise fund for CALM, the charity working to reduce the high suicide rate amongst men under 35. The event at Floridita on Wardour Street on 30 April will see chefs Alyn Williams, Ben Spalding (late of Roganic), Jose Pizarro, Mark Poynton (Restaurant Alimentum, Cambridge), Mickael Weiss (Coq D'Argent) Russell Brown (Siena, Dorset) and Phil Thompson (Auberge du Lac, Brocket Hall) creating a special one-off menu.
Your host for the night, which is also being filmed for ITV's Tonight show, will be David Baddiel. Diners will be looked after by front of house staff from Pollen Street Social, Galvin at Windows and Alyn Williams at the Westbury amongst others. The price for such a starry night? £200 for what promises to be an amazing meal and includes a champagne reception and matching wines with every course. There'll also be music and entertainment over the course of the night as well as an auction.
The evening has particular poignancy as it's being organised following the death of chef Kevin Boyle, a former trainee of Jamie Oliver, who was found dead in January this year. The charity is hoping to raise funds to allow their helpline to be extended to the early hours of the morning.
