May the gods that look down on London's diners be praised - one London chef has decided to take pity on those who hate walk-ins only restaurants and start taking reservations.
José Pizarro's Pizarro on Bermondsey Street will now take reservations for any lunchtime table during the week. Plus, if you’re a party of 6 to 10 people you can reserve the big table at the back or the Private Dining Room at no extra cost for both lunch and evening meals, every day of the week. Huzzah!
We also like the sound of two new menus on offer on Sundays. First up is a Sunday brunch which will be served up from 10am. The key dish will be eggs with either Morcilla, Manchego or Chorizo as well as an Ibérico Pork Burger with Patatas Fritas (new burger klaxon). The burger will probably be available from around midday - but beware, when it sells out there won't be any more made that day. There will also be whole roasts for groups to share such as whole Roasted Seabass for two, or Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder for four people.
If all that isn't enough José action for you - you can also spot him at Maltby Street on a Saturday where at his new stall he'll be selling Spanish oils, hams, vinegars - pretty much all the ingredients he uses in his two restaurants.
"I’m a typical chef," he says. "I have itchy feet and want to keep doing cool new things."
