Update - Léon de Bruxelles is having a soft launch from 17-20 Jan with 50% off food.
Belgian restaurant chain Chez Léon have just announced they'll be opening a Léon De Bruxelles moules frites joint on London's Cambridge Circus in January. The spot (opposite The Palace theatre where All Bar One/Med Kitchen used to be) will have 220 covers and can seat 12 at the bar. There'll also be 39 seats on the terrace come summer. The marvellously-named Eric Kebbab, who launched Umo and The Criterion, will head up front of house.
The chain, whose first restaurant opened up in Brussels in 1893, will offer a range of Flemish classics including eleven types of mussel dishes, frites with mayonnaise, fish soup with rouille and gruyère cheese and Carbonnade of beer braised beef. For desserts there will be a selection of waffles as well as other continental treats.
The London branch will have a special cloudy Belgian beer brewed especially for it alongside a longer list of micro-brewery beers and wines.
Léon De Bruxelles will be open from breakfast to dinner, with an afternoon tea menu launching later in 2012. 24 Cambridge Circus, London WC2.
