A 1500 strong crowd, including London's mayor Boris Johnson, turned up in Battersea Park last night to crown this year's British Curry Awards champions.
Three South East curry restaurants picked up Curry 'Oscars' at the awards. Tamarind in Mayfair won Best in Central London, Shampan 3 in Welling, Kent was chosen as Best in London Suburbs while Vivek Singh's new city launch Cinnamon Kitchen & Anise over on Devonshire Square, EC2 picked up a prize for Best Newcomer.
