Interesting piece in The Times today on how London has become the international go-to place to party with the uber-rich (provided of course you can afford a ticket to one of their charitable balls).
And while they're here, it seems that one restaurant in particular, has become the hot spot for the oligarchs and travelling billlionaires.
'We’re booking God knows how many tables at Heston [Blumenthal’s new restaurant] at the Mandarin Oriental,” Aaron Simpson, co-founder of Quintessentially, the private-members club, tells The Times. “The BRIC crowd [Brazil, Russia, India, China] are coming into London much more regularly. They are less conscious of showing their wealth.'
According to the piece, the restaurants worth flashing your cash at are
The IvyThe Wolseley
Claridges
Hakkasan Mayfair

...as well as any of the Park Lane hotels and their restaurants.
Which reminds us of the article we wrote as we were just launching Hot Dinners on the Most expensive dishes in London. This might be the right time to update that.
