The Observer memorably described their pizzas as 'the best in Britain' and certainly if the drooling reviews of our fellow foodies on Twitter are anything to go by, Franco Manca's pizzas are, indeed, the business. But, up until now, you'd have to schlep all the way to Chiswick or Brixton and Hot Dinners are, frankly, too lazy to go that far for pizza.
So we were really pleased to hear the news that they're opening not one, but three new restaurants north of the river. The first will be at Westfield Shopping Centre and will offer a pared-down menu of two pizzas - one meat and one vegetarian. The other two will be in Brick Lane and Covent Garden. All should open this year - exact dates to be announced.
