bouchon bretonSpitalfields brasserie Le Bouchon Breton was picked as the UK’s best place for a drink whilst out dining  in trade title Harpers Wine & Spirit’s 2011 Drinking Out Excellence Awards (that must have been liver-ruining, but fun to research). Le Bouchon Breton also picked up a gong for Champagne Venue of the Year award, and Best French Wine Restaurant of the Year .

Other London restaurants who won on the night included:
European Wine Restaurant of the Year: Chez Bruce
Italian Wine Restaurant of the Year: L’Anima
Spanish Wine Restaurant of the Year: Morito
New World Wine Restaurant of the Year: Gaucho Grill
After Dinner Drinks Venue of the Year: Boisdale
Best Drinks List in an Asian Restaurant: Zuma
Wine Bar of the Year: Vinoteca
Spirits Venue of the Year: Mark’s Bar at Hix, Soho
Newcomer of the Year: Cigalon

The winners were chosen by a panel of restaurant critics, wine writers and sommeliers including Peter Harden of Harden's guides and Spectator food critic Dominic Midgeley. Editor Richard Siddle, said the awards were ‘chosen by those in the know. Experts who put these outlets to the test every day of the year.’ He can expect a slew of cvs from interested ‘experts’ once this is out, we think.
