If you were one of the foolish/unlucky wage slaves to have to battle the forces of evil to get to your office this morning rather than working (relaxing) at home, you'll be glad to hear that there is an upside to there being a tube strike. Because you made the effort, unlike all your colleagues, to get to the office, you're in a prime position to get into some of the best restaurants in town today.
Hot Dinners rang round a few usually impossible to get into restaurants this morning at 11am, wondering whether they'd have a table for two. Both The Ivy and The Wolseley could fit us in for 2.30pm, which isn't bad at short notice. We also tried the ever-popular brasserie The Giaconda Dining Rooms who could seat us at 1pm and even Nobu London was happy to hear from us, saying it was no problem for a table for two at 1pm.
So the lesson today is, gird your loins, squeeze your way onto any bus going into central London today or tomorrow and take a nice long lunch (after all your boss is probably at home watching TV) at some of the best restaurants in town.
