Mallow
East London

12 Park Drive, London E14 9ZW

Mallow is from the people behind Mildreds, and this restaurant has a 100% plant-based brasserie-style menu. That menu features dishes like Spinach Dahi Puri and Aubergine Muhamammara Borek. The second Mallow, it's a much larger restaurant than the original and also features a big terrace. An all-day restaurant, it's handy for plant-based breakfasts too.

Tendril
Mayfair, Belgravia

5 Princes St, London W1B 2LQ

Tendril had been running as a supper club and pop-up before finding its permanent home in Mayfair. Run by Rishim Sachdeva (previously at Chiltern Firehouse) , the restaurant's driving aim is to serve "mostly vegan" food (which means one or two dishes may feature cheese) with dishes based on Rishim's experience gained in both British and Indian kitchens.

Studio Gauthier
Soho, Fitzrovia, Covent Garden

21 Stephen Street, London W1T 1LN

Studio Gauthier comes from chef Alexis Gauthier who has a Michelin star for his Soho restaurant. Like that, this Fitzrovia outpost is a fully-vegan affair and bring some of the chef's best plant-based dishes to a bigger audience (and a little more affordably too).

Thenga Cafe
North London

120 Cromer St, London WC1H 8BS

Located inside the YMCA yoga centre, Thenga Café is quirky and inviting, offering a purely vegan menu with European and Indian influences due to the chef's travels and Bengali heritage. The daily set meals are one of London's most affordable eats.

The Fields Beneath

The Fields Beneath cafe is about three things, coffee, wine and food and it focuses on doing them all really well. The food offering has been vegan since 2018, and it's as local and seasonal as possible, the wine is natural and there's always a single-origin coffee on filter.

Mildreds Camden
North London

9 Jamestown Rd, London NW1 7BW

As one of the oldest vegan restaurants in London (it first opened in Soho back in 1988) this Camden outlet is one of six branches. Its plant-based dishes are bright, bold and still manage to be exciting, and it undoubtedly paved the way for the modern vegan food scene in the capital.

facingheaven
East London

1a Bayford Street London E8 3SE

Facing Heaven is Julian Denis' sequel to Mao Chow, moving just around the corner from the previous restaurant. The vegan menu takes influences from Cantonese, Yunnan and Shaanxi cuisines as well as adding in a few Puerto-Rican, American and Portuguese flavours into the mix. They have hot pots at the weekend too.

By Chloe.
Soho, Fitzrovia, Covent Garden

34-43 Russel Street, London WC2B 5HA

Everything about By Chloe. screams NYC cool (where they originated from), from the full stop in its name to its determination to call itself ‘plant-based’ instead of just plain vegan. But aside from that, there’s more than enough to draw in animal-loving punters - from its super central Covent Garden location to its vegan mac and cheese and quinoa taco salad.

gateis
North London

370 St John Street, London EC1V 4NN

The Gate first started in London over 30 years ago, long before vegetarian and vegan menus became a big thing. They've been serving up quality vegetarian fare for years and have earned a big following as a result. As you'd expect, much of the food is plant-based and there's a strong vegan selection too (and their wine list is entirely vegan).
