XU launches its first full Taiwanese afternoon tea

xutea

XU, the Taiwanese restaurant from the Bao team, has had a big focus on its traditional teas since opening but now it's putting them front and centre. During the daytime this summer (from 12-5pm) the ground floor level of the restaurant will be given over to focus on tea, offering everything from a single cup to a full on traditional tea ceremony, all headed up by the in-house tea master.

For the full Afternoon Tea Ceremony (£39), you can try a range of Taiwanese teas, some of which are rarely found outside of Taiwan, accompanied by dishes like Char Sui Hen of the Woods Puff, Goose & Chard Rice, and Taiwanese pastries.

The Traditional Tea Service (£14) meanwhile takes a single tea leaf variety, served in the traditional way and brewed multiple times, with the tea master on hand to explain the brewing process and evolution of flavour. Or, if you just want a quick cuppa, you can order one brewed tea from the extensive tea menu.

The regular XU a la carte menu will still be served upstairs in the restaurant area.
