The Blues Kitchen brings BBQ, Blues and Bourbon to Brixton

The Blues Kitchen have announcedthe opening of their next venue on Acre Lane, Brixton this October. The third opening in the franchise will bring tastes and sounds of the Deep South to one of London’s most vibrant dining hotspots.

In a similar vein to their other sites in Shoreditch and Camden, The Brixton Blues Kitchen will offer an array of southern food including Texan BBQ but will boast the largest selection of rare and vintage bourbon in London. The venue will also feature live entertainment seven nights a week, welcoming world-class blues, roots and soul artists playing live across two stages.

Serious about their BBQ, the team behind The Blues Kitchen team have travelled extensively throughout Texas, Tennessee and Louisiana picking up invaluable advice whilst eating some of the best BBQ the US has to offer. Looking to the rich Caribbean food culture of Brixton for inspiration, expect to see frequent collaborations with local chefs and restaurants.

At their Brixton site they’ll serve their most comprehensive BBQ menu yet. Expect to see a combination of classic and new dishes including:

  • 12 hour smoked brisket with burnt ends
  • 16 hour beef short ribs
  • Buttermilk fried chicken
  • St Louis pork ribs
  • The Blues Kitchen Buffalo wings.

New dishes will include:

  • Pig and Biscuits – buttery southern breads topped with juicy pulled pork,
  • Poached duck eggs, hollandaise sauce and crispy fried bacon
  • Creole crab cake Benedict
  • Whole Canadian lobster
  • Cajun catfish jambalaya.

American music is obviously a key part of the offer here. Entertainment will be split two floors, with a stunning tiled bar occupying the ground floor whilst upstairs houses a live stage and nightclub, this area will play host to Mississippi bluesmen and Louisiana-style brass bands as well as a family of resident DJ’s in the weekends. On the ground floor, a more intimate stage will host blues, swing, gospel and bluegrass.

Parent company The Columbo Group, who also own The Cat and Mutton on Broadway Market and Shoreditch nightclub XOYO are also due to open a new nightclub on the site of the former Plan B in Brixton this autumn.
