Cay Tre and Viet Grill owner launches Banh Mi joint on Old Street

kueThe man behind the brilliant Vietnamese joints Cay Tre and Viet Grill in Shoreditch, Hugh Trung Bui, has turned his attention to Vietnam's legendary Banh Mi sandwich and has just opened his first deli called Kêu! at 332 Old Street.

Fans of the Banh Mi may notice that the traditional baguette at Kêu! tastes a little different to what they're used to, that's because Hugh decided not to go with the traditional bread which is apparently packed with artificial raising improvers, so what you get is a sour dough-style baguette.

All sandwiches are £4.50 and we like the sound of the classic Kêu sandwich with spiced belly of pork with ham terrine and chicken liver pate, although the pork meatballs in spicy gravy also sounds like the perfect lunchtime snack.
