Bill Granger’s new SW1 spot has various spots for alfresco dining, including the hidden outdoor courtyard, a few outdoor tables and chairs lining Pavilion Road and a small outdoor terrace upstairs accessible via the main restaurant, overlooking the courtyard.

Dish to have: Crab & Kohlrabi salad with tarragon & lemon zest

Veneta, Salt Yard Group’s latest restaurant is celebrating their first summer since opening with the launch of a Venetian terrace. Part of the pedestrianised redevelopment of St James market, the terrace emulates the relaxed drinking and dining culture seen throughout Venice.We rate it as a topspot to grab a spritz or two and some chicettiwhilstescaping the bustle of Haymarket.

Eat this: Grilled Octopus, Wood-roasted peperonata, polenta and marjoram

This newish Bloomsbury bistro has a wraparound around terrace that opens for coffee and pastries in the morning and runs through to evening cocktails. Better still it's bookable for weekend brunch.

Dish to have: steak breakfast with eggs, bacon and potato

There's a huge riverside terrace overlooking the Thames at this new Drake & Morgan warehouse restaraunt in Canary Wharf. Served by a dedicated terrace bar this is a place to sit back and enjoy (if you must) a frosé.

Dish to have: Crayfish flatbread with baby gem lettuce, cherry tomatoes and marie rose sauce

Finding a new spot just off Kingsway is pretty difficult, but having just had a relaunch this Holborn fusion restaurant has opened a 'secret' terrace out at the back overlooking Lincoln’s Inn Field.

Dish to have: Braised Bean Curd and Shitake Fritter from the new summer menu

The inside of this Francophile wine bar is exceptionally lovely with all its stained glass, but you’ll want to head outside to enjoy a spot of streetside people watching.

This behemoth restaurant and bar complex is a welcome respite from the throngs of seasonal tourists in Victoria, and offers some seriously good al fresco dining options, from the Rail House Cafe to Jason Atherton’s Hai Cenato.

Dish to have: Hai Cenato’s corzetti pasta with aged beef Bolognese, tomato and sage burnt butter is worth the trip alone.
