Open all day from breakfast through to the early evening, the menu at Mihbaj focuses on dishes from Jordan and Palestine. It also boasts a hidden terrace which is a perfect little oasis from the hustle and bustle of Paddington. Start the day with shakshuka or French toast with rose and vanilla ice cream. If you’re here later in the day their upside-down maqluba dish of aubergines, tomatoes and lamb is unmissable.

This is, simply put, a mini version of The Barbary, right next door to the original. The Barbary (which in turn is from the same people as The Palomar). Expect a small plates menu, with a similar Mediterranean/African focus all served up on a mini counter space.

Sheesh became a huge hit in Essex, attracting all manner of celebs from D-listers to A-listers like Russell Crowe. This sees them in much more prime territory - almost directly opposite The Ritz. Expect something of a party affair, a touch of Essex in London and a menu that does indeed feature "Sheesh" kebabs, but wagyu steaks and lobster rolls too. Don't expect it to be subtle.

Akub is top Palestinian chef Fadi Kattan's restaurant in London that's billed as being a progressive take on Palestinian cuisine. The menu uses a combination of fair-trade Palestinean produce as well as local produce expect Middle Eastern flavours and lots of sharing dishes.

15 Poland Street, London W1F 8PR

Bubala first started out in Spitalfields (with pop-ups before that) before opening this second Soho restaurant, featuring food that takes its inspiration from across the Middle East. It's also an entirely vegetarian experience.

9 Duke of York Square, Chelsea, London SW3 4LY

Housed in an architecturally eye-catching pavilion on Duke of York Square, Vardo is the Caravan Group's Chelsea outpost. The menu takes a more global approach to suit the area's international audience but you can obviously enjoy a top-tier coffee here too.

54 Lamb’s Conduit Street, Bloomsbury, London WC1N 3LW

This much-loved restaurant comes from Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich. Originally in Fitzrovia, this Bloomsbury location is a much larger space. The restaurant specialises in Middle Eastern cuisine and even with extra room, it's always worth booking ahead to ensure you get a table.

46 Exmouth Market, Farringdon, London EC1R 4QE

This is an offshoot of Josh Katz's Berber & Q, and is something of a cut-down version of the main restaurant. Here you can find a combination of mezze, hummus and plenty from the grill - including the lamb shawarme of course - as well as rotisserie chicken. Make sure to stick around for their desserts.

28 Rupert Street, London W1D 6DJ

Downstairs from Soho pub The Blue Posts is this tiny restaurant, run by head chef James Goodyear. It's a small counter dining affair with only 11 seats. Expect a regularly changing menu that mixes up British produce with Scandinavian and Japanese techniques.

23-25 Lonsdale Rd, London NW6 6RA

Carmel sees the team behind Berber & Q head west to Queen's Park for a more traditional restaurant from what they've opened before. Expext the same great approach to Middle-Eastern cuisine and make sure to try the flatbreads.

216 Great Portland St, London W1W 5QW

This Middle Eastern grill restaurant is from the award-winning team behind the nearby Honey & Co. Expect dishes like lamb kofta and chops, whole fish and slow-cooked octopus, charred cauliflower and aubergine.

41 Mortimer St, Fitzrovia, London W1T 3JH

Upstairs is a private members club, but Mortimer House Kitchen on the ground floor of this art-deo building and open to the public. It features a menu that's serving up Middle Eastern/Italian-influenced dishes. They describe their dishes as "like a dialogue between an Italian and an Israeli."

Arabica KX, 7 Lewis Cubitt Walk, King's Cross, London N1C 4AD

This all-day restaurant is a Levantine restaurant from the same group as the original London Bridge outpost. Food is consistently delicious, with special cold and hot mezzes, fresh day boat fish, halal steaks and much more.

Coal Office has eye-popping interiors by Tom Dixon and food by Palomar chef and restaurateur Assaf Granit. If you're up at the counter, it's a scene quite familiar from The Palomar - Jerusalem-inspired food served up by a lively kitchen.

Yotam Ottolenghi's restaurant in Fitzrovia is a bit of a departure for the chef and author. Veg is still at the heart, but this place with an ex-Grain Store chef sees them using fire and fermentation more.

This Ottoman restaurant in Pimlico features mezza, kebabs and more besides. There's a reason it's always busy (and buzzy) - it serves up dependably good Turkish food.

The people behind Marylebone's Yosma have opened this more central restaurant. This time it's focused on Greek and Turkish food with seafood and grilled dishes on the menu.

25 Elystan St, Chelsea, London SW3 3NT

After a successful first opening in her home country, Bahraini chef Roaya have opened here in London. Step in for a breakfast flatbread with homemade yoghurt in their terracotta-lined courtyard, try a plum cocktail on the al fresco terrace or order far too much from their Mezzeh sharing plates menu.
