Barrafina Adelaide Street

The Hart Brothers (also behind Quo Vadis and Fino) are opening a second venue of Barrafina, the Soho tapas restaurant. While much on the menu will be familiar to diners at their current restaurant with a menu made up of classic and contemporary tapas, chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho is planning some entirely new dishes. Those dishes will probably be inspired by the Josper oven that's being installed here.

"There can’t be too many places in London where you can wolf down a plate of ortiguillas, a type of sea anemone more usually enjoyed in the Balearic Islands, for not much more than a fiver." READ REVIEW

"Still, the anemone and the kidneys, I will say without fear of contradiction, were the two best dishes I have eaten this year." READ REVIEW

"It is true that you can rack up a bill of fairly frightening proportions at the Barrafinas, in fact at any Hart Bros place (they also run Quo Vadis) but that's not technically because anything they do is overpriced. It's simply a direct result of the fact that from the moment you sit down you have such a good time you never want to leave, and will try any trick in the book to prolong the happiness." "I've had Madrid's famous bocadillos de calamares at their natural home, El Brillante, across the road from the Atocha train station. But Barrafina's tiny versions are so much better, the tender, unbattered squid trailing a fragrance of smoke, the bun cushiony. Add caramelised onions and a mound of fresh shoestring fries – like elves' chipsticks – and it's a crack snack." READ REVIEW

"I urge you to queue patiently for Barrafina Adelaide Street. It can stand as an admirable example of achieving ideal Human Factors and Ergonomics (HF&E) or just a fabulously good place to have a vivacious, ambrosial and, incidentally, healthy meal." READ REVIEW

"These little snacks are tempting and delightful, but watch out if you’re properly hungry, as the bill adds up fast. A solitary courgette flower, stuffed with soft white cheese and drizzled with honey, was a seasonal treat and winning combination of savoury and sweet, but is no bargain at £7.80." READ REVIEW
