We're usually focused on restaurants here at Hot Dinners, but this week much of the interesting stuff is happening on the city's pub and bar scene. True - a lot of it is centred around East London, we've stories for you from Clerkenwell, Hackney and Dalston, but there is a new opening in Soho too.
Further west, the really big news is that chef Tom Kerridge is finally opening a place in London. We can't wait to try out his new gaff in Knightsbridge - 2017 is looking more and more exciting.
9 Dec - get a sneak preview of chef Helena Puolakka's menu for Aster which opens next year when she takes part in Floating Table, a series of communal feasts on the Jetty at Greenwich Peninsula by Farmopolis Café. 10-11 Dec - Enjoy a Mexican brunch with Mezcal Amores at Pachamama. The menu features Mezcal-buttered scallops and rainbow cauliflower nachos with kale, chilli and herby cheese sauce among other dishes and the cocktails are half-price. The menu runs 12-4pm.
15-17 Dec - head to Petersham Nurseries for their festive supperclubs when they open the cafe at night for a four course dinner. Tickets are £75 for this atmospheric event which include an aperitif on arrival. Book on 0208 940 5230 or email email@example.com.
17 Dec - head to Jose Pizarro's place at Broadgate for a Cava & Croquetas Party featuring all manner of croquetas including oxtail & caramelised orange and goose & cranberries. Tickets at £37.76 include three glasses of Codorniu Anna Blanc de Blancs cava.
18 Dec - The Boondocks Cinema Club kicks off with a Christmas screening of Elf. For £20, you can enjoy the movie and feast on Popcorn, Mulled Cider/Wine, Chili Cheese Dogs, Mac & Cheese & Bea's Famous Mince Pies!
Radio Alice - Hoxton This is the brainchild of the owners of Berbere in Italy, The thing they do differently is, after having made their pizza dough, they cook the base, slice it and only then add the toppings.
The Gate - Marylebone Popular vegetarian restaurant The Gate has just opened its next outpost in Marylebone (taking over the spot from The Lockhart). Best of all they have a proper vegetarian breakfast.
Pomona's - Notting Hill Pomona’s is a West Coast/Cali-style restaurant and bar now open in Notting Hill. And there's an American bar too. Soft launch from Nov 30 - 7 Dec.
Ceru - South Kensington Ceru have been popping up in residencies all over town and now they're settling down in South Kensington. Expect a modern take on Levantine cuisine as well as classic mezze alongside grilled meats, healthy salads and desserts. Opens 8 December
Queens Skate - Dine - Bowl - Bayswater The longstanding bowling alley and skating rink on Queensway is getting a huge makeover and food by Jimmy Garcia in the bargain. Opens 8 December
El Pastor - Borough This is from the folk behind Barrafina and they are on a mission to do the same for Mexican food as they did for Spanish. Expect a big focus around tacos, particularly on the signature El Pastor. Opens 12 December
