Even if you're slightly jealous of the Americans for Thanksgiving - a holiday with great food and no need to go crazy buying presents - the good thing is there's plenty of opportunity to eat pumpkin pie, cornbread, sweet potatoes and turkey in London this week. And for that we give thanks.
Whether you're after a taste of Americana or an ex-pat looking for a slice of home (and pumpkin pie - or this pumpkin cheesecake from Sea Containers), here's our pick of the Thanksgiving menus being served up in London this week.
25-27 November - Head to Tobacco Docks for this year's Hyper Japan - a festival of Japanese Culture, Cuisine and Cool. Sip on sake cocktails and nipple wasabi cupcakes while deciding what great gifts to buy for Christmas. Sushi kit anyone?
29 November - Tony Conigliaro’s award-winning Bar Termini is teaming up with the Curzon Cinema in Soho for an exclusive screening of La Dolce Vita. The bar team will take over the theatre’s basement bar, offering a selection of classic Italian cocktails and Peroni beers. Tickets are £15 for the cinema ticket and a drink.
Until 30 November - The Richmond in Dalston has an Oyster & Gin Mare Flight menu costing just £10 for three oysters and three complementary Gin Mare mini-cocktails (15ml each).
30 November - Cafe from Crisis on Commercial Street is having a Puglian Adventure fundraising dinner. The £85 three course dinner with welcome cocktail and Puglian wine-pairing is being cooked by San Pellegrino Young Chef of the Year Antonio Sanzone, inspired by his Puglian roots.
30 November - Ibiza chef, organic farmer and author Anne Sijmonsbergen is having a pop-up dinner at The Duke of Cambridge in Islington. The £35 three course meal will consist of three courses, inspired by Anne's critically acclaimed book, Eivissa: The Ibiza Cookbook.
10 December - The New Zealand Cellar is having a Garage Sale at Pop Brixton with 30% off across their list plus wine tastings, master-classes, DJs and plenty of fun, it promises to sell out well ahead of time as it’s the perfect pre-Christmas shop. Tickets are £10
Until 18 December - Shoreditch has its very own Nordic Yulefest featuring nightly entertainment, Scandi inspired food and cocktails and free-flowing gluehwein. Tickets start at £8.
Temple and Sons - The City This is the new restaurant from the very-busy Jason Atherton and it's a British affair. Expect a big focus on grilled meat and fish as well as an all-day deli.
Aquavit - St James Aquavit found fame as a Nordic restaurant opening in the heart of New York and has been a huge success there since 1987 (earning two Michelin stars). Now they're opening in the new St James's Market development. 50% off food with our reader offer.
Barrafina Dean Street - Soho This sees the original Barrafina move from its Frith Street home to its new spot on Dean Street, taking over much of what used to be the Quo Vadis restaurant. Expect the usual top Spanish food and the favourite dishes from Frith St.
Parabola - Kensington As the Design Museum takes over the space once held by the Commonwealth Institute, they're also getting a big new restaurant from the people behind Albion. And it has some great views too. Opens 24 November
Sumosan Twiga - Belgravia The Italian and Japanese restaurant Sumosan is moving to its new digs in Belgravia - with different chefs taking on the two cuisines. Expect Japanese whiskies and sake and Italian wines. Opens 25 November
Luca - Clerkenwell The folk behind the ever-popular Michelin-starred Clove Club are opening their second restaurant. This time it's an Italian restaurant with British produce in Clerkenwell. Opens 28 November
