WOLF II in Broadgate is the new all day City restaurant from its Stokie counterpart

What: WOLF II

In a nutshell: Social Italian dining from the people behind WOLF, this time in the CIty.

Summing it all up: Originally a hit in Stoke Newington, this is the second Wolf to hit London. Expect aperitivo in the evening, pasta in the afternoon and eat in or takeaway breakfast - which includes fontina wild boar waffles - folk around Liverpool Street will be sorted all day long.

The low-down

The team behind Stoke Newington’s WOLF has been very busy - they’ve got a brand new all-day restaurant down in the City.

WOLF II is the name of their new base down in Liverpool Street. There, they’ll be keeping hungry city workers loaded up with their breakfasts, pasta and aperitivo from the comfort of the ‘Finsbury Piazza’ (or Finsbury Avenue Square, as us non-Italians know it, just behind Broadgate Circle).

Looked after by head chef Mattia Antonioni (Polpo, The Ivy), the menu at WOLF II will go through several incarnations throughout the day, starting early with their breakfast menu. Takeaway options include some familiar choices, like superfood pots with quinoa and avocado, as well as some less common morning sights like their ‘piggy sausage roll’ with a parsley dressing, or on the eat in menu, wild boar waffles with fontina cheese (!).

After that, it’s freshly made pasta and desserts until around 5pm when the focus falls on plates of nibbles, including Fritto Misto with black garlic mayo, baked Fontina cheese and other aperitivo. Like many things, they’re best consumed in conjunction with a strong cocktail, so you’ll be glad to know there’ll be a similarly extensive list for you to peruse, with many made from botanical-infused spirits.

Meanwhile, up in Stoke Newington, the original WOLF has news too: they’re upping their brunch game considerably with the introduction of the all important ‘bottomless’ option, as well as a few choice dishes like polenta pancakes with persimmon jam and mascarpone, baked gorgonzola with chargrilled focaccia, and a whole new section dedicated just to eggs.  And if you’re got your eyes on the prize, then pick from either Bellinis, Bloody Sinoras with tomato vine vodka, or Arrancia Spritz with basil-infused gin as your bottomless options for £17-18.
