TT Liquor cocktail bar, shop and tasting room opens on Kingsland Road

TT Liquor, a cocktail bar, spirits shop and tasting room on Kingsland Road, Shoreditch is the latest establishment set to join the burgeoning East London bar scene. A veritable theme park of booze now open to the public.

Named after founders Alastair Tatton and Stephen Thompson (the brains behind Discount Suit Company and The Sun Tavern), TT Liquor promises visitors an entire cocktail experience. Set across three floors, the project will boast a specialist liquor store and an intimate subterranean cocktail bar focused on tasting experiences.

At street level, the Specialist Liquor Store is a shop stocked with over 1,000 liquors. The store will also sport a range of rare bottlings and entire cocktail gift sets aimed at enthusiasts. Everything stocked in the liquor store will also be available to enjoy in the downstairs cocktail bar at a special ‘drink-in’ price. Regular guests will also be given access to ‘Deposit Boxes’, padlocked stashes available to hire that allow them to keep their private liquor collections at the venue.

The downstairs cocktail bar will focus on showcasing important eras through the history of cocktails. Customers will be invited to engage in a selection of four tasting flights, each which includes four cocktails representative of a specific era. Bartenders will explain the history of each cocktail, its relationship to other classic cocktails, and give an analysis of its ingredients and flavours. Cocktails will be accompanied by small plates of food, selected to complement the specific characteristics of each drink.

The upper floors will play host to TT Liquor’s signature tasting experiences, cocktail making classes and events. Tasting experiences including classes on whisky, rum, gin as well as local craft beers will be held in historic jail cells housed within the bar. These atmospheric alcoves can house 10 to 15 guests at a time, whilst larger groups can be accommodated in the upstairs lounges. The lounge spaces where these are held can accommodate up to 170 guests and will also be available for private hire as studios or event spaces for pop-up dining or drinks events.

Rounding off their incredible array of booze-related activities, TT Liquor will also offer cocktail making classes. These will be similar in format to cooking schools but with shakers instead of spatulas. Each guest will be assigned their own bar station and guided through how to make that perfect by an experienced bartender who’ll also make sure that you’re served a cold martini should it all go TT’s up.

TT Liquor is open at 17b Kingsland Road, E2 8AA. Follow TT Liquor on twitter @ttliquor.
