The Tapas Room hits Tooting from the Donostia Social Club

What: The Tapas Room

In a nutshell: Specialist Basque sherries, vermouths and more with tapas-style nibbles on the side

Summing it all up: It’s all about the booze down at Tooting’s new The Tapas Room, courtesy of the popular Donostia Social Club, where there’ll be wines, vermouths, cavas and more, plus a menu packed with Basque-style treats, also available to take away.

The low-down

After Pop Brixton and Clapham’s The King & Co, the Donostia Social Club is spreading its roots even further south to Tooting where they'll shortly be launching their new project, The Tapas Room.

It’ll be a long bar where alcohol will take the spotlight, and where diners perched on stools can sample their wide collection of specialist wines, sherries, vermouths and cava from the Basque region. You’ll also be able to pick Basque-style delicacies to match your drink from the complementary food menu, like charcuterie and cheeses. What’s more - there’ll be an option to get your tapas to go (and the thought of eating tapas in our PJs has us a tad excited.)

The new venue will allow for the Donostia Social Club to grow their Basque repertoire, particularly when it comes to drinks. Owner Paul Belcher said: “We can expand our wine and beer offering with the new space, which gives us a shop-front for our exclusive products.”
