Teppanyaki specialists Matsuri St James to reopen as Onodera

matsuri

It’s all change for Matsuri St James as it finally shuts up shop for the last time after 23 years, reopening its doors several months and £2.5m later with a brand new name and menu.

The new restaurant, called Onodera, will branch off from its predecessor’s signature teppanyaki dish of meat and veg, cooked on a flat iron grill Japanese style. The new menu will offer a much broader range of Japanese delicacies, with a modern twist. There’ll be a considerable sake list, as well as wine.

“With new restaurants popping up in London every day, we recognised that we’d we’d need to up our game to be successful in such a competitive industry,” said Masahito Hori.

We’re still light on the details, but the new restaurant is due to open in spring 2017, so fans of upmarket Japanese cuisine should watch this space .
