Surf and Turf is up in Clapham - a new pop-up from Jimmy Garcia

Surf and Turf is up in Clapham - a new pop-up from Jimmy Garcia

After bringing a BBQ supper club to a garden in Clapham, pop-up champion Jimmy Garcia is staying in the area, but heading back to his usual haunt, The Lodge, to create a surf and turf feasting menu. And feast really is the operative word - think five sumptuous courses, sand bucket cocktails, 10-pint beer kegs for each table… and all for a rather reasonable £40 per head.

As with all of his previous ventures, Jimmy is using his menu to showcase the very best from Britain. You couldn’t get more typically English than ‘Picnic Basket for the Beach’, his dessert course for the feasting menu, featuring raspberry Bakewell tart, Earl Grey pannacotta with honeycomb, lemon ice cream and a brandy snap sandwich. Here’s what else looks promising:

  • Whipped smoked cod’s roe, flat bread and crispy chicken skin
  • Crispy oyster, pickled asian vegetables, with oyster mayo and chorizo
  • ‘Battle of the big boys’- Cote de Boeuf, Lobster tail, seaweed and lime butter, orange braised chicory and Parmentier potatoes.

The pop-up will only be running at The Lodge for 10 days on certain dates - so if this seems like your kind of feasting, hop to it.

The Surf and Turf menu will be at The Lodge, 409 Clapham Road, Clapham, London SW9 9BT, on the following dates: 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th, 19th. 20th, 25th, 26th, 27th of August. Follow their Facebook page for more info.
