Cyrus Todiwala to open Assado restaurant in Waterloo

cyrusUpdated 25/2/14 with opening date

Just down the road from the Old Vic, Cyrus Todiwala of Cafe Spice Namaste fame is planning to open a Portuguese restaurant with Indian influences. The 108-seat restaurant Assado will mix ethnic influences and flavours the chef has discovered during his travels and throughout his career.

Apparently Assado (meaning roast) is also the name given to a traditional Portuguese roast pork dish, and the Pulled Pork Assado seasoned with chillies, cloves, turmeric, ginger (and served in a bun) will be his lead dish.

"It showcases an entirely new concept in Portuguese cuisine with an Indian twist," Todiwala explains.

Assado will open on Saturday 1 March at 157 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8XA in March 2014. Opening hours will be 11am -11pm seven days a week. For more information follow them on Twitter @assadowaterloo
