Way back in the mists of time (aka the Eighties) Hot Dinners recalls Caspars Telephone Exchange, a bar down one of the side streets in Soho where the (pre-mobile phones) gimmick was a phone on every table so you could call up diners on other tables to chat them up. Now that idea's been resurrected in a new bar, Chuck's Clubhouse opening in Covent Garden this October.
Styled like the set of a college movie, in addition to sporting phones on tables, the bar will also have bumper cars and barber chairs, arcade games and vintage gas pumps serving beer directly to tables. Soulshakers are the team responsible for the drinks and cocktails at Chuck’s which - as frat tradition apparently dictates- will occasionally be served in Viking helmets for sharing.
Food-wise there'll be NY pizza sold by the slice. There'll also be a hatch at ground floor on Earlham Street serving slices to takeaway.
Chuck’s Clubhouse opens in October at 35 Earlham St WC2H 9LD. Opening times will be weekdays 4pm till 1am and it will be open all day Saturday and Sunday.
