What: Sonic Sandwich
In a nutshell: Fish finger sarnies and BLTs from the burger maestro Burgerac
Summing it all up: If you like your sandwiches classic and comforting, and ideally accompanied by nachos, get down to Sonic Sandwich, Burgerac’s newest venture, in Little Portland Street’s The Social.
After doing some seriously impressive work in the world of burgers, Gavin Lucas, aka Burgerac, is hanging up his spatula and turning his hand to sandwiches. Lucas, who started out as a burger blog maestro, has just announced the creation of Sonic Sandwiches, which is starting out at The Social on Little Portland Street.
Fish finger sandwich aficionados might want to start getting a bit excited, as there’s no doubt that Sonic Sandwich’s take on them will be delicious. Expect a classic setup - toasted white, iceberg lettuce, and homemade tartar sauce, nice and simple, just as it should be.
There’ll also be a gooey grilled cheese with homemade pickles and dijonnaise, a BLT, a chicken BLT and a veggie beet combo with homemade hummus and pickled carrots. They each cost roughly £6, (£5 for the veggie), and you’ll be able to order chips or nachos as a side. Plus, Thursday-only buffalo wings.
And as for the name, it’s ‘sonic’ in the music sense, not the hedgehog sense. That’s because there’ll be daytime DJs to keep the pub buzzing on Friday lunchtimes, with more music set to come.
