Brett from Elliot's at Borough Market is opening The Richmond in Hackney

richmond foodIf ever a restaurant designer has his work cut out it's interior decorator and antiques dealer Adam Bray. He's currently responsible for getting rid of the Cleopatra meets Spartacus look of LMNT on Queensbridge Road in East London and turning into a neighbourhood spot The Richmond.

The Richmond is going to be a new restaurant and bar jointly owned and operated by Brett Redman and Margaret Crow. Brett you'll know for his popular place Elliot's on Borough Market. Margaret is a stylist and fashion consultant who's worked on i-D, Love and Vogue Russia.

The pair are going to be bringing in a menu based on snacks, comfort food, and raw dishes and The Richmond boasts that it's home to East London’s first and only raw bar serving several types of oysters and clams, a rotating selection of carpaccios and tartares, and a large selection of ethically sourced fish. So expect scallops ceviched in Sicilian citrus with basil or a Shetland mussel salad with diced razor clams and horseradish.

At the weekends they'll have a family style Sunday roast served all day. And we reckon their early evening ‘oyster happy hour’ will be pretty popular during the week.

As for drinks, Negronis will be served on tap (this is East London after all) and there'll be a classic cocktail list and a strong selection of natural wine.

  • Hot Buttered Crab Claw Rolls
  • Seabass Tartare, Oyster Mayonnaise & Rye Crackers
  • Wood Roast Beetroots, Goat’s Curd, Apple & Buckwheat
  • Monkfish, Brown Butter & Crab Lettuce
  • Nduja Spiced Seafood Stew, Saffron Aioli & Gremolata
  • Apple Beignets & Ricotta Sorbet
  • Banana Tart, Crème Fraiche & Macadamia

The Richmond will open 20 March 2015 at 316 Queensbridge Road, E8 3NH. Opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 5pm - midnight; Saturdays 11am - midnight; Sundays 11am-11pm. For more information, follow them @TheRichmond_
