Well I think we can guess some of the restaurants taking part in Action against Hunger’s ebay auction in conjunction with tonight’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards. The auction is offering restaurant collectors the chance to bid for one of 40 meals for two at restaurants from the San Pellegrino list. There’ll also be extras such as a glass of fizz in the kitchen with the chef or a signed book to make each lot even more covetable.
A quick glance at the auction page reveals 40 dinner dates and while there are no names of restaurants yet – the destinations certainly give the game away for some. So for example, El Celler de Can Roca will be the Girona restaurant, the Copenhagen venue will be Noma, Gladbach will be Vendome and Oaxen in Sweden will be Oaxen Krog.
Sadly, there’s no Costa Brava or Bray on the list - yet - so it doesn’t look as though there’ll be an opportunity to bid for a table at El Bulli or The Fat Duck.
The auction begins at 9am tomorrow (27 April 2010) with lots being released through the day so no timezone gets an undue advantage.
