Ashley Cole and Jay-Z to open London restaurant The 40/40 Club together

Chelsea footballer Ashley Cole is teaming up with music mogul Jay-Z to open a sports bar and restaurant in central London.

Part of the rapper's 40/40 chain, the London venue will work along similar lines to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen foundation, aiming to give jobs to young people who have been unemployed for a long period.

Talking to The Sun, Cole said; 'I'm delighted to be working with Jay-Z. I have grown up listening to his music so to be doing business with him is amazing. The projects will be delivering much-needed funds back into sport and music on a community level.'

'It'll be the hottest place in town,' Jay added, who previously explained his decision to open 40/40 thus: 'I love sports and wanted to create an environment that is conducive to my lifestyle, while being able to watch the games  at the same time.'

Food-wise, don't expect anything too high class. A quick look at a 40/40 menu includes things like Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, catfish fingers and ribs. It's all-American mainly, with just a nod to Glasgow with deep-fried Snickers for dessert. We couldn't see any Crystal on the drinks list, but you will be able to push the boat out with a bottle of Krug for $1200.

The 40/40 chain currently has six places in America from New York to Vegas. The London venue is one of three international openings planned for 2011 - they're also opening in Tokyo and Macau.
