The old House of Fraser building is getting a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views

Have you been wondering what the plans are for the old art deco House of Fraser building on Oxford Street? Well, it's getting more than £130m thrown at it in a massive refurb that's planned to bring with it new shops, a gym and even an indoor swimming pool. The building is being renamed The Elephant, but you can guarantee we'll all be calling it the old House of Fraser building for at least a decade.

That said, it's their plans for the building's rooftop that has us most interested. They're creating an entirely new eighth floor which is being earmarked for a huge new restaurant. It will have wraparound windows showcasing a view like nothing else on Oxford Street. It'll also have a massive 6000ft terrace up there. More food and drink is planned for the ground floor but really the rooftop sounds like it's what this building is all about.

Of course, this news is so early that we don't actually know who will be taking up the offer of that space. And it's a little far away, planned for the end of 2025. But as soon as we hear who will be up there, we'll let you know.
