Trying a Mayfair breakfast upstairs at The Barley Mow

If there's a good reason to entice any Londoner away from their office (home or otherwise) into town first thing in the morning then the lure of a good breakfast is surely one. Last week we popped into Mayfair for a preview of a brand new breakfast menu in the upstairs dining room at The Barley Mow which is hoping to do just that.

Not only is this a lovely spot for breakfast (the pub's on a corner site so the room has loads of natural sunlight) but there's plenty on the new menu that's attractive whether you're after a classic breakfast or seeking something a bit different.

Head Chef Chris Fordham-Smith, who was previously at the Great Northern Hotel and The Westbury, has created a range of dishes based on the pub's close links with amazing suppliers like Northern Ireland's Peter Hannan and his famous sugar pit-cured bacon.

Here's what we tried to give you a flavour:

As for the drinks, well, this is a pub, so in addition to some good strong coffee and particularly good fresh juices there's also a range of what they're calling 'eye-openers' including a Bloody Caesar, Virgin Mary - and these two below.

All in all, this is a smart menu offering for breakfast and a good room to meet up with friends or do business in. We reckon it's worth getting out of the house (or office) for.
