NYC's Peruvian Llama Inn comes to Shoreditch

NYC's Peruvian Llama inn comes to Shoreditch

Updated 14/8/23 with soft launch info

A new Peruvian restaurant is coming to London via a somewhat unexpected route - New York.

Llama Inn opened in New York back in 2015 and has been a hit ever since. Just this year it made it onto the New York Times' Top 100 Restaurants list and its chef Erik Ramirez was a finalist on the James Beard "Outstanding Chef" list this year too. So this NYC import should be a pretty big deal.

As with the original restaurant, this will be inspired by the chef's American and Peruvian backgrounds and here the kitchen will be headed up by Marcin Maliczowski, last seen at Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio’s Barcelona restaurant Yakumanaka. A taste of the London menu includes:

  • Pork shoulder bun with sweet potato, salsa criolla and spicy mayo
  • Scallop, yuzu kosho, pitahaya, and nori
  • Crispy squid and yuca with rocoto, chocolo, and cancha
  • Lomo saltado with chive crepe, pickled ajies, avocado, and rocoto cream
  • Lucuma tart with miso manjar blanco, matcha

The cocktails should also be a draw here, with many of the favourites from the original including the ‘Chupetini (a one-shot martini - Japanese gin, dry vermouth, umami bomb, blue cheese olives) making it over to London.

It's coming to London as the new rooftop restaurant at the Hoxton Shoreditch (although it will have its own entrance). Following the big success of Chet's over in Shepherd's Bush, the hotel will be looking to recreate some of that hot restaurant buzz over in Shoreditch too.
