64 Goodge Street is the latest opening from the team behind Clipstone and Portland

64 Goodge Street is the latest from Quality Chop House's Woodhead Group

It's been a while since we had a brand new opening from the people behind Quality Chop House, The Woodhead Restaurant Group. They're also the people who brought us Fitzrovia restaurants Clipstone and Portland and that area must be working very well for them because they're about to open a third restaurant nearby, 64 Goodge Street.

In charge of the space will be Head Chef Stuart Andrew, a longstanding member of the group who is the man who gave us Portland's legendary game pithivier and who has worked the launches at both Portland and Clipstone. Here, he'll be looking back on his first chef work in Paris, planning to take on French cuisine from "an outsider's perspective". They're billing it as a "bistro that lacks pretension and puts the focus on excellent quality food within a relaxed setting."

So far, some of the planned dishes are:

  • Artichokes à la Barigoule
  • "Assiette de canard’ of parfait, rillettes and smoked ham
  • Côte de boeuf with sauce Bordelaise
  • lobster Thermidor

Plus they say they're working on the "perfect cheese gougère". And the wine list, while covering the globe, will have a specific focus on Burgundy.
