Claridge's have reopened their restaurant as... Claridge's Restaurant

claridge's restaurant reopens london mayfair

It's been almost eighteen months since Claridge's hotel in Mayfair closed their Davies and Brook restaurant following a disagreement with chef Daniel Humm over the direction it was going in (he wanted to go fully vegan, they weren't so sure). Now, very quietly, the hotel has reopened their signature restaurant space.

In charge of things as Head Chef is Coalin Finn. He's was at Davies & Brook as well as Sketch and Inverlochy Castle in Fort William. They've started slowly doing a few breakfast services before opening for lunch and dinner later this week. They say that it will "fully open in September", so it's possible there may be an evolution of the restaurant up until then.

A quick look at the menus suggests a strong focus on British produce with everything from Dorset snails to Cornish sea bass and Norfolk chicken on there. Obviously, because this is Claridge's, there's a distinct luxury edge to the offering so the artichoke agnolotti comes with black truffle shavings and there's plenty of caviar on there as well as a £110 turbot to share.

Breakfast here sounds like quite the enterprise with everything from scallop and bacon muffins to Omelette Arnold Bennett 'en cocotte' on offer.

We only have one image of the room to go on, but, at first glance, it looks as though the muted tones of Davies and Brook have been shelved for a look more befitting this Grande Dame hotel.

We'll bring you more news on this as we get it.
