Ikoyi and The Clove Club represent the UK in the 2022 World's 50 Best Restaurant List

worlds 50 best list winners 2022

As Londoners got to grips with the heatwave, the City of London turned out to be the hottest place of all last night. Billingsgate was the venue for the 2022 reveal of the World's 50 Best Restaurants List. The event had originally been planned for Moscow but obviously, that plan had to be junked. This was the list's 20th anniversary so maybe it was fitting for it to be back in London after all.

Chef Massimo Bottura and Hollywood's Stanley Tucci were on hand to interview the chefs as they arrived for the pre-event party, with canapes provided by London restaurants Fallow, Brawn and Perilla. But enough of that, let's cut to the chase and let you know how things went for this city's restaurants.

As with last year, London got two restaurants on the list. But they weren't the same two. The first London mention on the list was Ikoyi which last year was named The One To Watch - usually a good sign that a restaurant is about to enter the upper section of the list. They came in at No 49 as our highest new entry.

Next up was The Clove Club at No 35 which was a small drop from their position last year at 32.

And that was it. At the top of the pile was Copenhagen restaurant Geranium - so good luck trying to get a table there anytime soon.
